Mr. George Ervin Gordon of 2722 Kilkare Avenue was born on March 25, 1928 to Bernie and Rebecca Felder Gordon in Winston-Salem, NC. He departed this life on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a brief period of illness.

He attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public School and was retired from Brenner Iron and Metal Company.

He was a life long devoted and faithful member of Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed.

Mr. Gordon was also a member of James H. Young Masonic Lodge #670, PHA, King Solomon Consistory #64, and Sethos Temple # 170.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cassie G. Cundiff; and one brother, James D. Gordon.

His memories will be cherished by his devoted wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Baker Gordon; one brother, Marion (Hazel) Gordon of Winston-Salem, NC; four special friends, Howard McCollough, Willie Mae Downs, Ruby Charles, and Queen Cooper all of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, May 3, 2007 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Christopher Manning officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening, May 2, 2007 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel from 6pm until 8 pm.
