We come today to celebrate the life of George Cathcart who has rejoined his parents, James and Rosetta Cathcart, Sr. and his eldest sister, Ernestine Cathcart; for we know the day of death is better than the day of birth.

George Cathcart, 67, was born on September 24, 1946 in Rock Hill, SC. He was called home to our Heavenly Father on April 29, 2014.

The Cathcart Family relocated to Winston-Salem, NC in 1950 where George went on to attend Carver High School and worked multiple years with Tyson Food.

George was the youngest of the Cathcart boys and quite the jokester. He was a well-loved and humorous spirit. Not only would he light up a room with his smile and laughter, he also had a heart of gold. He would give you the shirt off his back and ask no questions. George was a jack-of-all trades, whether he was painting, fixing something up, or tearing something down. He made sure he enjoyed his life and family at all costs. Although he will truly be missed, we all have a moment or memory that George left with us to make us smile. So smile dear family; as this is a day of celebration!

Left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory are his three children, Tonya (Terrence) Cannon of Colorado Springs, CO, Nathan Cathcart of Winston-Salem, NC, and Sharon Cathcart Johnson of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph, James, Jr., Frank, and David Cathcart all of Winston-Salem, NC; longtime devoted friend, Evangelist Jacqueline (Cathcart) Burrell of Winston-Salem, NC; devoted niece, Davida Cathcart Tanner of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Jacqueline Cathcart Burrell officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Chapel.
