Mr. George Rufus Boler Sr., of 1810 Kentucky Avenue passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at his residence. He was born on June 14, 1932 in Blythewood, S.C., then later moved to Salisbury. He graduated from Dunbar High School in East Spencer and Livingstone College in Salisbury with a bachelor' s degree in business education with further studies at Babcock Graduate School of Business at Wake Forest University and Joseph Accounting School both in Winston-Salem. He retired from the Greyhound Corporation as a senior transportation specialist and was presently employed with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System as a substitute teacher. Brother Boler was the assistant pastor and local preacher at John Wesley AME Zion Church in Winston-Salem. He was married to Julia Roberts Boler, who survives, of the home. He is also survived by six children, Eddie Boler, Jacqueline Boler Fields (Verlie), Judy Boler Stokes (Terry), George Boler Jr., Marvin Shaw, Melvin Shaw; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (Willie Mae) McDaniel of Dakota, Ga.; one sister, Phyllis Faust of Danville, Va.; one aunt, Mrs. Josephine Brown of Blythewood, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Stella Baker (Paul) of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; special friends of the family, Lenora Washington, James and Margiesteen McKnight, Howard and Viola Ward, David and Juanita Cannady. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 2 p.m. from the Goler Memorial AME Zion Church with the Rev. James Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Church.
