Geneva Marion Martin Coleman, 100, of 1917 East 14th St, was born in Rockingham County, NC on January 22, 1916 to Daisy and Henry Martin. She passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at her place of residence surrounded by family.

Geneva Coleman was a homemaker and seamstress. In her later years, Geneva enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing cards. She was a devoted wife and mother throughout her life.

She was a loyal and dedicated member of Saint Benedict the Moor Catholic Church throughout her life. Her final church home and family was Second New Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Coleman, known as "Ma G", was preceded in death by her mother; father; first born son, Ronald Porter; husband, Harry Coleman; and three sisters, Nokomis, Elsie, and Zenobia.

She leaves to cherish loving memories one son, Martin Coleman; three daughters, Elsie Coleman, Jean Murphy (James), and Mona-Lisa Coleman; Geneva also was a special bonus mother to Allen Parrish and Stephanie Smith; and a host of grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Second New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Shannon Jessup officiating.
