Gaylia Warren Jones, affectionately known as "Gigi" was born to the late Katherine Warren Jones and Micheaux Matthews on November 29, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC. Gaylia was a member of the Kernersville community in Forsyth County where she attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. She graduated Carver High School with the class of 1958. She worked in the restaurant and childcare industries and was lovingly known as the "freeze cup lady" in her community.
Gaylia was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kernersville where she was an active servant until her departure. She introduced her children to the Lord at a very young age and believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Gaylia was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Jones; father, Micheaux Matthews; brother, Rev. William Jones; sisters, Patricia Dodd, Jackie Davidson, Valmetta Williams, and Regina Warren; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Rodriquez.
Left to cherish her memories are her devoted children, Aleta Jones, Tracy Jones (her loving caregiver), Wendy White (Derak), Jose' Rodriquez, Erica Jones, Cherry King (Darryl), and Darlene (Larry) Wilkins; her sisters, Jennifer Jones Huff (Marvin), Andrea Brannon, and Deborah Watson; devoted sister-in-law, Anatoria Jones; grandchildren, Leia Jones, LaKeia Jones-Baldwin (Richardro), Latoya Jones, LaMikeya Jones, Jamar Jones, Antonio Jones, Jahmarcus King, Jordan Jones, Depreace King, Derak White, Jr., Henry White, Lisa Williams (Sam), Carlos Rodriquez, and Jessica Rodriquez; great grandchildren, Ivan Smith (Kierra), LaVaughnte' Smith, Deonse' Davis, Karleigh N'Diaye, Zariyah Lock, Stanley Jones Jr., Ayden Jones-Baldwin, Londyn Jones, Nia Jones, Skylar Evans, Princeton Jones-Baldwin, Majesty (Angel) Jones, Sabrina Castillio, Anthony Castillio, Bella Allende, Ivan Rodriquez, Ivory Rodriquez, and Ezra Rodriquez; great-great grandchildren, LaVaughnte' Smith Jr., Malahni Smith, and Asahn Smith; a best friend, Savannah Crews; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
A Celebration of Her Life and Legacy will be held at 12:00noon Saturday February 3, 2024 at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Kernersville, NC. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at Chapel.
