Obituary

Mr. Garfield Odell Williams, known to many as "Butch", 55 departed this life on October 30, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center after an extended period of illness.

Garfield was born in Winston-Salem, NC Forsyth County on September 11, 1953. He graduated from Atkins High School in Forsyth County and served with honors in the United States Air Force. Garfield worked for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company for 17 years and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. What brought Garfield the most joy was spending quality time with his loving family.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his mother Mary "Mae" Williams of the home; his sister, Tonya (Anthony) Waddy; brothers, Barry "Len" Williams and Harold "Wayne" (Jackie) Williams; nephews, Barshard and Lenard Williams, Anthony Waddy, Jr. and Paul Moses; nieces, Shanta Whitmire and Ebony Sturdivant; aunts, Lucille (Charles) Johnson, Ernestine Williams, LillieMae Nichols, Clarice Woods, Barbara Howard, and Dorothy Williams; an uncle, Tommy Wright; and a host of special cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Drive with Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 11:30am on Wednesday at the Church.
