Mr. Garfield Aldine Ridgill, 82, formally of 1060 Mount Zion Place took his eternal rest on Friday, March 21, 2008 at The Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Clemmons, NC. Mr. Ridgill known to his family and friends as "Booster or Cornfield" was born May 25, 1925 in Manning, SC to the Reverend Garfield and Maybell Pendegrass-Ridgill.
Mr. Ridgill served in the U.S. Marines 1944-1946. He was a retired self-employed Brick/Stone Mason and a member of Pleasant Union Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa A. Ridgill; three sons, Dennis, Edward, and Michael Ridgill; two brothers, three sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law, and two grandsons.
Mr. Ridgill leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Wandella Ridgill-Rice (Wilbert), Gail and Janice Ridgill, Pamela Williams, Richard, Jerry (Beverly), Kenneth Ridgill, Anthony Springs (Lydia), Arnold Springs of Winston-Salem, NC, and Alfred Springs of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Beatrice Kelly, Doretha Mack, and Sarah Ridgill all of Winston-Salem, NC; sister-in-law, Thomasine Hawkins of Lewisville, NC; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Homegoing services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, March 28, 2008 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Dr., with the Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. Family visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon Friday at the church.
