Garfield Grinton, born June 20, 1937, in North Wilkesboro, N.C. He lived in Winston-Salem, NC for most of his life. He departed this life Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
He was a man of integrity, with a gentle soul and a loving heart.
He was a hardworking man that dedicated 25 years to RJ Reynolds.
Brother Garfield was a faithful member and devoted his time to Victory Outreach Church. He faithfully supported the "Men of Integrity" Men's Fellowship, standing as a source of strength, encouragement, and Godly example among the men. His heart for outreach reflected his commitment to advancing the Kingdom and supporting the ministry's mission to reach others with love and compassion.
He enjoyed fishing and watching the Carolina Panthers Football Games.
Garfield was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Grinton; and his son, Kenneth Grinton.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Bertha (Joseph) Mitchell, Bricella Grinton, Ivory Joe Grinton, and Marthaiel (Montrea) Grinton, Sr.; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Hazel Blackmon.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Chapel.
