Gale Traphine Wallace passed away peacefully Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical Center. Gale was born September 25, 1951 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Lester M. Jones and Beulah Wallace. Gale was preceded in death by her brother, Charles M. Wallace.
Gale attended Saint Benedict the Moor Catholic School and graduated from Atkins High School in 1970. Gale worked at North Carolina Baptist Hospital for 23 years as a unit secretary in the ICU Department. Co-workers remember her as being very dependable and devoted to her job.
Gale received the Lord at an early age being baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church. She could be found sitting at her dining room table reading the Bible and listening to gospel music on any given Sunday.
Gale loved cooking, couponing, watching reality television, and relaxing on her terrace. Gale was well known for her delicious chicken salad and her friends encouraged her to make it in bulk for them to sell. Gale was an invaluable neighbor especially to the children in her community. She would reward them with money, treats, and school supplies after they had performed odd jobs or ran errands for her.
Gale was a devoted mother and leaves to cherish her memory a son, Charles Lamont Wallace; brother, Bernard (Beverly) Wallace of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Leslie (Hubert) Kelly of Suitland, MD and Mary C. Wallace of Washington, DC; grandson, Jolen Thompson of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews. Gale truly loved her nieces and nephews; she was always suppling them with treats and other goodies she accumulated from couponing. Also mourning Gale are her many friends, including two very special and faithful friends, Barbara Lybrand and Gail Howard.
