Gail Fair-Shipp passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Forsyth Hospital. She was born on August 7, 1957 to the late James Leon Fair and the late Pearl Hairston Fair. She was educated in the public schools of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System.
Gail's early Christian education began at Emmanuel Baptist Church where she attended faithfully with her mother. She also traveled extensively with her mother as a young girl and developed a desire to see more of the world. After graduating from North Forsyth High School, she attended A&T University in Greensboro, NC. Upon leaving A&T, she went to Washington, D.C. where she lived and worked for a few years before returning to Winston-Salem.
Retaining her wandering spirit, Gail joined an aunt and uncle making the drive to Alaska where she lived and worked for a period of time and later returned to Winston-Salem. Before retiring, Gail worked in children's pre-school programs, before and after school programs, and in school lunch programs in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County System.
Locally she leaves to mourn her passing a devoted husband, Walter Shipp; loving stepson, Walter Sprinkle (Janice); sister, Cassandra Moore (Lepheria); aunts, Mary Carter and Ann Wells (Robert); uncle, Luke Jones; devoted cousin, Siberia Hood; six aunts and an uncle of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of other cousins and friends both in and out of state.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
