Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Future L. Williams
Future Lee Williams was born on September 30, 1950 to Future J. and Mabel Y. Williams in Winston-Salem, NC.
Future received his early education in the Winston-Salem Public School System, graduating from Atkins High school in 1968. He continued his educational journey at Johnson C. Smith University before earning his degree in Accounting from Winston-Salem State University.
Throughout his professional career, Future demonstrated dedication, determination and a strong work ethic. He was employed by Pilot Freight Carriers and later built a successful career with Lucent Technologies, now known as Nokia, from which he retired.
Future had an extraordinary love for music, computers and technology. He was always fascinated by the latest innovations and enjoyed keeping up with new gadgets, software and technological advancements.
Beyond his love for technology, Future was known for his positive outlook on life and his ability to make others think beyond the ordinary. He had a special way of sparking meaningful conversations by asking thought-provoking questions that challenged people to look at life from a different perspective.
One of his favorite questions was:
“How old would you be if you didn't know your age?”
It was more than just a question. It reflected his belief that age was not simply a number, but also a reflection of one's mindset, attitude and approach to life.
Future was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Future and Mabel Williams; his brothers, John P. Wellman, Herbert R. Wellman, Lonnie R. Wellman, Sr. and Albert C. Young, Sr.; and his sister, Dorris W. Jones.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his legacy his devoted daughter, Tomeka M. Williams; cherished granddaughter, Cabria M. Williams; loving sister, Marilyn Williams; nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family members.
Future also shared meaningful and treasured friendships with Belinda Williams, Bernard Carree, Chris Brown, Claudette Douglas, Edison Carter, Francis Ledbetter, Glen Hawkins, James Mather, Ken Price, Malloy Harris, Matthew Holland, Robert Logan, Walter Cowan, William Gunn and Winslow Taylor, along with many other dear friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Although Future's earthly journey has come to an end, his influence will continue through the wisdom he shared, the conversations he inspired and the love and memories he leaves behind.
Perhaps the greatest tribute to his life is to embrace the very principles he encouraged in others: maintain a positive attitude, remain curious, never stop learning, and live each day with purpose.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Carver Road Church of Christ.
