Mr. Freeman J. Roebuck passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church for 38 years and served as a trustee, on the senior choir, and Male Chorus throughout his membership. He graduated from Carver High School in 1950 and attended a university in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he specialized in Communications. He attended Winston-Salem State University -formerly TC (Teachers' College) and Forsyth Tech in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a Vietnam War veteran and retired as a Staff Sargent from the Air Force in 1971 after serving as a Communications Officer for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Roebuck; his mother, Bessie (Williams) Roebuck; one son, James Kenneth Dobson, Jr.; three sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Doris H. Roebuck; a son, Vincent Roebuck of W-S, NC; four daughters, Christine H. Davis of W-S, NC, Janice D. (Robinson) Fulwood of Fuquay Varina, NC, Gina L. Lamar of Laurel, MD, and Celina D. (Willie) Crawley of W-S, NC; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Nathan Scovens officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the Church.
