Mr. Frederick "Freddy" A. Jones, Sr., of Walkertown, North Carolina, passed away September 22. 2022 at Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center.   Mr. Jones was born August 28, 1936, and recently celebrated his 86 ^th birthday.

Mr. Jones graduated from Atkins High School in 1954.  He joined the U. S. Airforce after graduating from high school and served honorably for 32 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sargent (E-9).  Chief Jones was stationed at many state side duty stations as well as serving overseas assignments in Korea and Taiwan. Chief Jones continued his studies after high school, earning a master's degree.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Myrtle Jones; his brother, Ronald Jones; and wife, Carline Pettis Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his sister, Doris Jones-Caldwell; his children, Dwaine L. Simmons, Sr. (Jernell), Marcel Edwards, Debra Jones-Lighty (Keith), Derrick Jones, Frederick A. Jones, Jr., and Donna Jones-Clayton; daughter-in-law, Deon Bellamy-Jones; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Monday at the Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:00pm in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
