Obituary

Fred Jerome Miller, age 54, departed this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his home. God received another angel on that day.

Jerome was a 1986 graduate of Mount Tabor High School, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After he graduated, he worked at Wesley Business Forms for several years. He then worked as an Orderly in the Emergency Room at Baptist Hospital. Not long after, he realized his entrepreneur calling and he initiated his first business venture establishing, owning, and operating Millers Maintenance LLC. He made a great impression at Baptist so much so that they saw his talent and awarded his first contract. Jerome went on to secure several government and private contracts throughout the Triad for three decades. In 2019, Jerome expanded his business and launched Kwik Trip Transportation. He was a hands-on guy, he supervised, trained, and mentored over twenty-five dedicated employees, always with patience and love.

Jerome was a gentle giant; his personality was bigger than life. He was a pillar in the community, well known and beloved by many in the Triad area. He was an awesome brother, loving uncle, and great friend. Jerome was non-discriminating; he had a twenty-four-carat heart and assisted those in need whether he knew them for an extended or brief period of time. He was a gentleman whose impact can be seen through the many lives of those he touched.  He always took care of family, extended family, and friends.  His memory will live on through all those who share in our loss.

His parents, Grace Brown Miller and Fred Miller, Jr., preceded him in death.

Precious memories will always be cherished by his sisters, Carol Miller of Chicago, IL and Joyce Miller of Greensboro, NC; his one and only niece, Detra Miller Sullivan (Tawan) of Spartanburg, SC; he also leaves to mourn his uncles, Bobby Brown of Suitland, MD, Otis Brown (Charlotte) of Pelham, NC, Reverend Morris Brown (Shirley) of Eden, NC, David Brown of Danville, VA, Robert Miller of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Larry Miller (Pearl) of Duluth, GA; aunts, Geraldine Adams of Suitland, MD, Brenda Woodson of  Reidsville, NC, Ethel Brown of Bladensburg, MD, and Linda Miller of Upper Marlboro, MD; closest friends, Mr. & Mrs. Barrett; special friend, Irma Zimmerman; and a host of cousins, mentors, mentees, business associates, clients, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Johnny R. Freeman officiating.  Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Friday at the Chapel.
