Obituary

Fred William Lockhart, Sr. transitioned from Earth to his Heavenly home on Thursday, June 11, 2009.
He was born August 13, 1925 to Ed and Judy Lockhart in Wadesboro, NC. He was educated in the Anderson County public school system and retired from Hanes Hosiery/ Sara Lee where he worked for 37 years. He was a faithful member of Phillips Chapel Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board and the Male Chorus until his health began to decline. Although he was unable to physically worship with his church family, his faith remained strong.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Louise Bee Bee, Mae Covington, Willie Bee Lockhart, Lonnie Lockhart, Otis Lockhart, James Sturdivant, and Leroy Sturdivant; and one son, Lansing "Red" Lockhart.
He leaves to cherish his memories he wife of the home, Josephine "Delrae" Lockhart; four sons, Fred "Butch" (LaVerne) Lockhart of Odenton, MD, Ronald "Wayne" (Janet) Lockhart, Keith (Vanita) Lockhart of Winston-Salem, NC, and Robert Moore of Wadesboro, NC; one daughter, Freda Lockhart of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Caroline (Pete) McClurkin of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Robert Lockhart of Long Island, NY, Roosevelt Lockhart an Edgar (Juanita) Lockhart of Charlotte, NC; his loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Donald (Liz) Perry of Laurinburg, NC; mother-in-law, Mabel Perry of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Fred's life will be celebrated with a homegoing service at 2pm Monday, June 15, 2009 from the Phillips Chapel Baptist Church, 132 S. Glenn Ave. W-S, NC. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2pm on Monday at the Church.
The family funeral procession will assemble and leave from Russell Funeral Home, 822 Carl Russell Ave. W-S, NC.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice for the wonderful care provided. A special thank you to Hospice home nurses, Allena and Robin and CNA, Jeanette.
