Obituary

Fred Douglas Hawkins, III of Winston-Salem, NC, known to family and friends as "Freddie Bandz", joined the heavenly angels on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Fred was born in Winston-Salem, NC to Fred Douglas Hawkins Jr. (Susan) and Tonya Gary Waldo (Jeffrey). Freddie attended Mt. Tabor High School, where he gained a passion for writing and producing his own music. Freddie, Jashawn "GoldMouth" Gary, and Malcolm "MAC" Springs, came together with Pure Profit and William "Third" Conrad Jr. to create "Plug Brothers Ent.". Freddie focused on paving his way into the music industry. Not only is "Plug Brothers Ent." a brand but it became a powerful movement. Above all things Kay Kay was Freddie's world; that was Daddy's Baby! Their love was unconditional.

Fred was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Reverend Joe and Helen Coleman and Willie and Eva Gary; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Helen Gary, Sr.; and his aunt, Tecora Ann Gary.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Tonya Gary Waldo (Jeffrey) and father, Fred Douglas Hawkins, Jr. (Susan); his daughter, Kaylin "KayKay" Hawkins, whom he loved and cherished with all his heart; her mother, Kendra; brothers, Malcolm Springs, Jashawn Gary, Victor Boston, Jr. and sister, Destiny Owens; paternal great-grandmother, Dorathy Hawkins; paternal grandmother, Cecil Hawkins (Leon); paternal grandfather, Fred Douglas Hawkins, Sr. (Rickie); aunts and uncles, Thomas Gary, Jr., Saterri Taylor, Tabotha Hawkins, Todd Hawkins, and Lori C. Edom; nephews, Markez Hainey, Mason Cash, and Victor Boston, III; a niece, J'adore Reign Gary; significant cousins, Calvin Nicholas Hawkins, Eric Hawkins, Zachary Hawkins, Isaiah Hawkins, Ashley Taylor, and Amber Surratt; a friend who he loved like a brother, Tremaine Bailey; also a beloved host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Curtis Friday officiating.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the Church.
