Mr. Franklin Dillington Lash was born September 30, 1935 and transitioned from this life to glory on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
"Frank" was born in High Point, NC and attended Columbia Heights School in Winston-Salem, NC.
He was a born again Christian who loved the Lord and was a member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.
He was a retiree of The Bahnson Envirotech Company, The Winston-Salem Journal and Sentinel Newspaper. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Annie Bell and Clinton Lash; sister, Gloria Dean Lash; and God-children, Bobby Witherspoon and Christopher Witherspoon.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, James Franklin Horne of Winston-Salem, NC; two daughters, Robin Witherspoon Gillis (Devronne) of Winston-Salem, NC and Cynthia B. Crippen (Robert) of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Juanita Anderson (Geter), Dorothy Johnson (Samuel) and Frances Wright (James); three brothers, Clinton Lash, Jr., Raymond Lash, and Bennett Lash (Jean) all of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Devronne Gillis, Jr. and Devontae Gillis of Winston-Salem, NC, Mark Blake and Robert Crippen, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Jabarery, Cameron, Natalie, and Kyle; nieces, Tammy, Regina, Jamie and Miracle; nephews, Rodney, Jermaine, and Bennett, Jr.; a devoted and special lifelong friend, Ms. Earnestine Horne; foster children, Bernard, Marvin, Gale, Loretta, and Anthony; Ms. Gloria Witherspoon and children, Antonio, Ecola, and Laura; devoted play sister, Shirley Cardwell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, August 4, 2011 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
