Francis Maloyd Walker, Sr.

February 12, 1940 - March 12, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Francis M. Walker, Sr. (affectionately, called "Shorty"), who transitioned to be with the Lord on March 12, 2025, at the age 85.  He was born on February 12, 1940, to the late Rev. Henry James and Ora Lee Walker.

Francis was known for his hard work as a skilled butcher in New York City for over forty years.  He was a remarkable man with an astonishing ability to adapt in any environment.  He was a people person who enjoyed jazz.  He touched the lives of many people with his generosity and keen advice. Francis lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to family and friends.

Francis leaves to cherish his loving memory, his devoted wife, Eloise Walker; six sons:  Alaric Walker, Francis M. Walker, Jr., Donald (Valerie) Walker, Samuel Billups, Kenneth Billups, and Timothy (Deidra) Robinson; five daughters:  Carol Barnes, Debora Billups, Dionne Robinson, Ciera (Olivia) Anderson, and Daisy Robinson; six grandchildren:  Tiffany Walker, Christopher Walker, Justin Walker, Brianna Walker, Gashar Dixon, and Chante Walker; and from his second marriage twenty-three grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
