Obituary

Sunday, April 28, 2013, Frances East Wilson answered the call of our Lord and Savior surrounded by her children and grandchildren, and was gracefully escorted to take her place in her heavenly home. Frances was born in Stokes County, May 24, 1933 to the late James and Nora East. She was the seventh of eleven children.

Frances matriculated in the Stokes County schools. She later obtained her associates degree in business from Winston Business College. Before her health declined, for seventeen years she worked in the home of Steve and Allison Williams. She nurtured and loved their three children (Taylor, Eliza, and Lauren) from infancy to adulthood.

Frances was a "social butterfly" who enjoyed entertaining and meeting new people. Her family always was her priority, and she was a loyal and dependable friend. She never met a stranger because of her charming way with people.

Frances was a member of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church for over forty years where she served on the Usher Board, Parent Body Missionary, and Ideal Club. She was very active in her church home until her health precluded her attendance.

Those left to cherish her memories are her son Teddy (Pateah) East of W-S, NC; her devoted daughter, Mary (Marion) Jones, with whom she resided; four grandchildren, a devoted granddaughter Shakerra (Arthur Wright) Jones of W-S, NC, Andrew East of Jacksonville, FL, Andrea East Sharp of W-S, NC, and Alicia East of Wilmington, NC; four great grandchildren, Jaidyn, Justyce, Jaymison Sharp, and Ben-Arthur Wright all of W-S, NC; two sisters, Helen France and Betty Wellman both of W-S, NC; one brother, Russell East of Harrisburg, PA; four devoted nieces, Karen (Tony) Jones, Palmie (Floyd) Dalton, Lynn (Michael) Smith, and Shelby East all of W-S, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church with Rev. Dr. George C. Banks officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Church.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and thanks to the Hospice West Team and to all family and friends for their kindness at this time.
