Mrs. Frances Crummie Wigfall, 100, of Somerset Court, 1635 E. Fifth St., W-S, NC peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 16, 2015. She was born on February 21, 1914 in Newberry County, SC to Matthew and Lueada Crummie. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene and Blisco; and three sisters, Lizzie, Ruth, and Hattie.
Mrs. Wigfall was raised in Laurens, SC and came to live in Winston-Salem in 1931. She met and married Harold Wigfall at about the age of 18 and remained married to him for 74 years until his death in 2007.
Mrs. Wigfall was a Gold Star Member of First Baptist Church and had been a member for over 74 years. She also served on the Usher Board and was a faithful member until her health declined.
Mrs. Wigfall was a retired employee of Carolina Linen and a member of the Marion Anderson Club.
She leaves to cherish her memories three nieces Jennie Wallace, Rose Wilson, Sherry Wigfall of Winston-Salem, NC; a nephew, Willie Lee (Rose) Irby of Philadelphia, PA; great nieces and great nephews, Beverly (Bernard) Wallace, Ronald Wallace, Laverne Smoot, Donald (Alice) Wallace, Sylvania (Roddy) Wilder, Jerome (Martha) Wilson, Mary Ruth (Lafayette) Campbell and Charles (Elizabeth) Wilson all of Winston-Salem, NC and Pastor Barbara (Overseer Daniel) Salley of Accokeek, MD; and a host of great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Rudine Medearis.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Highland Ave. with Rev. Daryl Aaron officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
