Mrs. Frances Olivia Murrell-Shelly, "Hudie", of Clemmons NC, was born September 3, 1959 to the late William Murrell Sr. and Sarah Frances M. Welch.  She departed this life on August 29, 2017 at the K. B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC.

Olivia attended the Stokes County Public Schools and received her diploma from South Stokes High School.  She later went on to attend Elon University in Burlington, NC.  After Elon, she enrolled in Carolina Beauty School and received a certificate for teaching.  She received her degree of Cosmetology from Dudley Beauty School.  She came to Northwest Blvd and worked under Mrs. Alice Hawkins.  After Mrs. Hawkins retired, Olivia became proprietor of Salon Excelle where she loved doing hair.

Olivia was baptized at an early age and became a member of New London Primitive Baptist Church.  After moving to Winston Salem, she attended Agape Faith Church in Clemmons, NC.

She was a sweet, kind, and generous person, had a great personality, and loved everyone.  Olivia will truly be missed, but her goodness will shine in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Murrell, Sr.;  sister, Cheryl E. Murrell; nephew, Kevin O. Hairston; and grandparents, Rev. Everett and Mrs. Blanche Smith and Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Ruth Crockett.

Olivia is survived by her husband, Barrington Shelly; one daughter, Jonah Smith-Riley of the home; two sons, John Daniel Smith, III (Rebecca) of Chapel Hill, NC and Rick Tyler Thompson of the home; three grandchildren, Jonovia Riley, Austin and Chase Smith; mother, Mrs. Sarah Welch; three sisters, Mrs. Sandra Hairston, Mrs. Charlotte (Chris) Hairston, and Mrs. Belva (David) Trotman; two brothers, William Murrell, Jr. and Keith (Dawana) Murrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Agape Faith Church, Clemmons, NC. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:00nooon until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Church.
