Mr. Fousel Cagee El, Jr., also known to many as Willie Floyd, Jr., 89, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. El was born on March 15, 1923 to the late Willie and Viola Floyd of Castlebery, Alabama. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, participated in the Normandy, France and Ardennes-Rhineland-Central Europe campaigns; and was decorated with Good Conduct, European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign, and World War II Victory medals.
Mr. El had a talent for masonry construction and enjoyed listening to all genres of music.
He is survived by thirteen sisters, Lillie Kate, Eloise, Barbara Morgan, Revera Edwards, Mary, Willa Bentley, Carrie Warren, Margaret, Kathy, Linda, Judy, Mabel, and Mary Purify; five brothers, Leroy, J.W., James, George, and Moses; his four sons, Fousel, Moudkaii, Muhammad, and Saladine; two daughters, Khadija Garcia, and Fatima Watlington; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will commence at 12noon Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.
