Floyd Daniel Wood Johnson was born July 7, 1920 four months before his 98 ^th birthday he was called to Heaven. Floyd was the fourth child of Celeste Wood. After the passing of his mother and grandmother he was then adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.

Floyd joined the military at a young age; he served as a member of the Buffalo Soldiers and the 82 ^nd Airborne who fought in World War II in Italy. During his service he received many awards and accolades. He served in the military for twenty-three years and retired in 1963 at Fort Bragg, NC as a Sergeant 1 ^st Class. After his retirement he transitioned into a career selling insurance for Winston Mutual.

Floyd married Eula Mae Price on November 12, 1948. They celebrated their 55 ^th year anniversary prior to her passing in November 2003. To their union they had four children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eula Mae Johnson; his son, Rodney Timothy Johnson; his siblings, Dorothy, Roy, and Hazel; and son-in-law, Capt. Lawrence D. Hill.

Left to cherish beautiful memories are his loving children, Ylonda Diana Hill, Sgt. Major Floyd Daniel Johnson Jr.,(Gail), and Don Keith Johnson; eight grandchildren, Cedrick D. Johnson, Tina M. Hill, Lawrence J. Hill(Ericka), Carrie M. Hill-Simmons(Carl), Keith D. Johnson (Brynn), Cory L. Johnson, Angelica D. Johnson, Chelsea S. Johnson; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nevaeh, Cameron, Christian, Ca'lel, El Shaddai, Natayla, Caiden, Mika, and Chase; and a host of many nieces and nephews that he loved and cherished.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Russell L. Smyre, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Wednesday at the Chapel.
