Florie S. Melton, 85, of 5010 Voss St. departed this life early Monday, May 11, 2015 when she received her crown. She was born November 18, 1929 to Adolphus Streater and Hattie Sellars Streater in Chesterfield County, SC. She was married to Leonard Melton and relocated to W-S, NC. Born to this union were six girls and one son.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Harvey Melton; two grandsons, Deric L. McKinney and Rashard L. Melton; one great-great-grandson, Kaiden A. Clayton; five sisters and six brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memories six daughters, Wilma (Joe) McKinney as her caregivers, Elaine Melton, Patricia Palmer, Monice (Richard) Moore, Yasmin Melton, and Trevis Melton all of the city; one devoted and loving sister, Margaret Melton of Cooleeme, NC; two stepchildren, David Galloway of Raeford, NC and Celie Mae Glenn of Charlotte, NC; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; two Goddaughters, Audrean Grubbs and Anitra Rush; a devoted friend, Miriam Mager; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Calvester Griggs officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Friday at the Chapel.

The family would like to thank the staff at Novant Health 9th Floor, Dr. Frank Moyer, Dr. Susan Hines, and the staff at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center.
