Our wife, mother, sister and friend Florence Rosetta Ross went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2018 at Novant Health Forsyth Hospital after a brief illness.  Zet, as she was affectionately known by her family, was born June 6, 1948 in Winston Salem, NC.  She spent her childhood being raised by her beloved great grandmother Florence Carroll in Lumberton, NC.  Florence integrated the predominately white high school in Lumberton to graduate in the top 10% of her class.  After marrying her husband Franklin Ross, Florence enjoyed being a housewife.  Her hobbies included her flower gardens as well as music.

Florence was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Matthews Clinkscales; one brother, Paul Matthews; and sister, Cynthia Matthews.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 41 years Franklin Ross; son, Kenneth Williams; daughter Chrystal Ross; three grandsons Jay Rogers, Aswan Williams, and Terry Smalls Jr., two granddaughters, Kendra and Kensa Williams; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Thursday at the Chapel.
