Mrs. Florence Eula Hughes Linton, daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Hughes transitioned from earth into eternal life on Saturday afternoon February 2, 2019, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC, surrounded by her family.
Florence began her educational career in the public schools of Danville, VA. Inspired by her mother's passion for healthcare, she pursued a degree in nursing graduating with honors. Mrs. Linton retired from Novant Health with 35 years of service. She was a founding member of New Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she served with many ministries including the Deaconess Board, Missionary Board, and Senior Choir.
In addition to her parents preceded in death by her sisters, Lambert Hughes and Delores Bunch; brother, Edward Hughes; and adopted daughter, Ella McNair.
The beautiful memories of her life will be forever cherished by her devoted husband of 59 years, Frank Linton Sr.; daughter, Linda Linton and son, Frank Linton, Jr. (Janet); grandson, Christian Linton, whose presence lit up his Nana's heart; sisters, Arthurmae Webb (Joe) of Lynchburg, VA and Rosa McCall (Arthur) of Philadelphia, PA; adopted granddaughters, Tamika McNair and Kenya McNair of Tallahassee, FL.; one uncle, Otis Hughes of Danville, VA; a host of brothers and sisters through marriage, nieces, nephews, neighbors and church members; her "homegirl" since 1 st grade, Val Taylor; and the many other wonderful friends who entered her life over the years and held their own special place in her heart, all of whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Monday, February 11, 2019 at New Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Monday at the Church.
