Obituary

Ms. Evelyn L. Wagner, known to family and friends as "Moon or Elb" of 324 Crafton Street was born April 7, 1935 in Winston-Salem, NC. Elb was the oldest daughter born to Mrs. Carrolua Pinkney Wagner Holiday. She departed this earthly home on August 10, 2010 at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center.
"Elb" was a graduate of Atkins High School and furthered her education at the Russell Business College and Winston-Salem Teachers College. She worked in dietary for many years in various cities in New York. "Elb" also loved to cook. She was the one who made the dressing for holiday meals.
"Elb" worked many summers with her eldest step-sister, Dollie Jones in the mountains (also known as Camp of the Woods in Speculator, NY) until Dollie retired, and so did the crew.
"Elb" was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-sisters and brothers.
She leaves to cherish many wonderful and joyous memories two daughters, Debroah Holiday Belcher and Tangala Wagner Collins of Winston-Salem, NC; two sons, Roderick I. Holiday and Bradley D. Wagner of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister, Lynda Holiday Webster of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Wayne, Jr. (Sheena), Nathan (Crystal), Erik Belcher, Sr., LaTricia Melton, Javon Wagner, and Derrick Harley; eight great-grandchildren, Shai and Zoei Belcher, Nia, Tamia, and Devin Belcher, Erik Belcher, Jr. of New Haven, CT, and Armoni and Amirah Melton all of Winston-Salem, NC; devoted nieces, Nikicha (Gilbert) Smith and Kya Webster of Richmond, VA; devoted cousins, Nathaniel (Patricia) Holiday of Winston-Salem, NC, and Ruby Meadows (who was raised with "Elb" like a sister) of Winston-Salem, NC, Patricia (Arthur) Phillips of Detroit, MI, and the Jones and Pinkney Families of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cynthia Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Monday at the funeral home.
