Mrs. Evelyn Campbell Reaves, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at her residence. She was born May 18, 1928 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Willie and Dora Scott. She was educated in the local school system and was a life-long member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was the Director of the Spiritual Choir. She retired from the Dry Cleaning Industry. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Campbell and Connie Reaves. She is survived by her eight children, Veronica Sawyer, Xavier Campbell, Jamesina Campbell, Xanthus (Paulette) Campbell, LaConte' (Duretta) Campbell, DeCarlos (Bettina) Campbell, Tim (Sharon) Jones, and Janice (Jasper) Fulp; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
