Mother Evelyn Sutton Leake was born in Winston-Salem, NC on March 31, 1927. She transitioned from this earthly life to her Heavenly home peacefully on March 3, 2021. Her building kept on leaning and she had to move from her old house into a new house not made by hands. She was born to the late Cora Sutton Hemphill. Evelyn Leake was the firstborn of three siblings Leroy Ben Sutton, deceased and Hattie Sutton Bowman, deceased.
Mother Leake was educated in the Forsyth County School System. Mother Leake worked for National Linen Service and retired from Arbor Acres. She was married to the late Thomas Wiley Leake and out of this union five children were born. She was the mother of the late Carolyn Elizabeth Leake, Thomas Wiley Leake, Jr., and Tyrone Leake. She leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters, Paulette Leake and Charlene Leake Gaddy; daughters-in-law, Carolyn McQueen Leake and Patricia Leake; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mother Leake was baptized in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost under the late Bishop Elijah Neal. Former pastors under this Christian pilgrimage are the late Bishop Purnell, Bishop Johnny Draft, Bishop Ruben Hash, Sr., Bishop King, Bishop Walter W. Jackson, Elder Motley, Elder Gary Johnson, Elder Lowery, Elder Leroy McGhee and Evangelist McGhee. Mother Leake was the building fund secretary at St. Peter's Apostolic Church. She served on the usher board and was over the housing committee for the delegates for the General Assembly. Mother Leake loved her family, church family, and her neighbors.
Servant of God, well done. He that endures to the end shall be saved.
~Respectfully submitted by this great family.
