Mrs. Eva Jones Jeffries was born November 23, 1926 to the late Meta and James Marshall Jones in Winston-Salem. The youngest of five sisters - Cora Grogan, Julia Matthews, Mary Forbes, Meta McClendon and Dorothy Jones and one brother, Dr. James M. Jones.

A longtime resident of Forsyth County, "Baby Bunt" as she was known by family and friends departed this life peacefully at the home that she loved on Monday, April 22, 2013.

Bunt Jeffries was educated in the public schools of Winston-Salem and attended Winston-Salem Teachers College being awarded a degree in Early Childhood Education. Her first teaching position was in Warrenton, North Carolina and later she accepted a position in Winston-Salem teaching at Kimberly Park, Carver Crest, Fairview and Griffith Elementary. She loved all her students and married the love of her life, the late Robert Everette Jeffries.

She was a life-long member of Goler Memorial AME Zion church where she was an active member until her health declined. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority for educators. Her love for children continued as the owner of ABC Daycare.


Leaving to cherish her memory are one son, Marshall (Cynthia) Jeffries; three grandchildren, Marshall, Jr., Joshua, and Megan Jeffries; brother, Dr. James (Dorothy) Jones and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, April 26, 2013 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
