Eva Boston Howell, 96, passed away on July 4, 2026, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Eva was born on January 22, 1930, in Vivian, West Virginia to her loving parents, George and Frances Boston. In 1951 she moved to Winston-Salem, NC where she made her home and built a full life.
She graduated from Winston-Salem Teachers College, now Winston-Salem State University, in 1958. After working for several years at Western Electric, Eva began her teaching career. She taught elementary school for twenty-five years, retiring in 1991, after decades of service to children and families.
Eva was a faithful member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. There, she participated in the Active Adults and Special Needs Ministries. Her church community was an important part of her life.
Eva loved to travel and was proud to have visited 49 of the 50 states. Many of those trips were made by RV with her sister, Pauline Washington, creating memories across the country.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances Boston; her brothers, Floyd, Jerry, and Clarence Boston; and her sister, Pauline Washington.
Eva leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughters, Brenda Daniels and Sharon Howell; her son, Derrick Boston; her sister, Cleta Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be remembered with love by her family and all who knew her.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, July 13, 2026 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Tuesday at the Church.
