Eugene "Geno" Lee Massey known to his family, personal friends, and associates as "Geno", was the son of the late John Henry Ford and Martha Massey Moses. "Geno" was born on January 17, 1943 in Winston Salem, NC. He departed this life on November 9, 2019 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston Salem, NC.
"Geno" was a man of many life experiences. He attended Western Union High School in Waxhaw N.C. In 1960 he enlisted in the Army and did basic training in Fort Jackson, SC. During his adult life "Geno" was employed with the Charlotte Transit Authority as a bus driver and he worked in masonry with Blythe Construction. He also donated his time to helping the homeless at the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte, NC.
To know "Geno" was to love him, from his charismatic and charming personality, to his signature hat and toothpick, mixed with his love of music. Geno lived to embrace life freely and enjoyed long walks through downtown Charlotte while spending time with his friends and engage in conversations with everyday persons who frequented downtown businesses for work. Geno was a simple man who held his belief for living to his end.... smile and continue to live, no matter what.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Moses and John Moses.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Terrie L. Clawson (Antonio) of Winston Salem, NC; two sons, Eugene Fuller of Winston-Salem, NC and Mike Massey of Charlotte, NC; brothers and sisters, Leroy Moses (Wanda), Edward Moses (Sarah),Daisy Gilliam (Donald), Patricia Cuerton, Mary Cuerton, Robert Moses (Elaine), Kevin Moses Waxhaw, Rose Ellison, Barbara Lowery (Wayne), David Moses, and Danny Moses; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Eugene "Geno" Lee Massey had a bright spirit and hardly met a stranger, the numerous relationships/friendships he established along his life journey will forever miss his presence.
A service of remembrance will be held at 7:00pm Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
