Mr. Eugene Jones passed away at the Winston-Salem Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center on early Monday morning, October 8, 2007. Mr. Jones was born in Winston-Salem and moved to New York at the age of 14. He went into the service of the regular Army at the age of 18, serving in the Korean War as Corporal. After the service he lived in New York City, driving a Yellow Taxicab for 27 years. Mr. Jones left on impression with all those he met, well loved by his community. In 1988 he returned to North Carolina with his sister.
He is survived by a sister, Ms. Dorothy Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am Friday, October 12, 2007 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kelly P. Carpenter, Reverend Willard W. Bass, Jr., and Reverend Ellen Yarborough of Green Street United Methodist Church presiding.
