With deepest sorrow, heartfelt love and devotion, we all mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Mrs. Etheleen P. Duckett made her transition from this earth peacefully and quietly on May 8, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born on February 22, 1938 to Mr. Joe and Katie Peoples. She retired after many years of service for Dr. and Mrs. Keith Kooken whom she loved dearly. She was a former member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.R. Samuels for over 40 years where she served in many organizations and clubs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Rudy; four brothers; and one sister.
Those left behind to cherish her love and fond memories include her devoted husband of 59 years, Mr. Robert Duckett, Sr.; four devoted children including her caregiver, Dorothy Hughes, Jacqueline Frazier, Robert, Jr., and Etheleen L. Duckett; sister, Mrs. Alice Scott of Rock Hill, SC; one brother, Mr. Vernice Peeples of the city; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; foster son, Curtis Murphy; special friend, Larry; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12noon Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Rowdy officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Chapel.
The family would like to thank the KBR Hospice staff for their love and care given to our mother in her short stay.
