Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend Mrs. Ethel Bernice Rucker- Stapler, 82, of 1612 E 22nd St. was born June 26, 1931 in Davie County, North Carolina to Bishop Rucker and Mamie Wansley-Rucker. She departed her life peacefully Saturday, September 21, 2013 after an extended illness.

Ethel attended Davie County Schools. She was employed by and retired from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after 28 years of service. She was a faithful member of Mt Calvary Holiness Church of God for 33 years where she served on the Usher Board, the Nurses Board, as well as the Pastor's Aid Society.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Stapler; son, Alton Darrell Rucker; father, Bishop Rucker; mother, Mamie Wansley-Rucker; brothers Outher and Leo Rucker.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory 2 sons, Henry Rucker of W-S, NC and James Thomas Rucker of Raleigh, NC; 3 daughters, Novis Stapler-Scippio (Rogers) of Los Angeles CA, Phyllis Stapler-Brown (Johnny) of High Point, NC, and Deitra Deneen Stapler-Hulbert of W-S, NC; 13 grandchildren, Chevella, Kim, Michellene, Aleshia, William, Leala, Marcus, Charmaine, Jhaamel, Therrington, Tristen, Sherlyn, and Trevon; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, James Rucker (Ruby), Billy Rucker, Carlton Rucker Sr. (Pauline) of W-S, NC, Howard Rucker of Stamford, CT, and Herman Rucker of Augusta, GA; 2 sisters, Clara Mae Tomlin of W-S, NC and Christine Summers (James) of Dorchester, MA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm Saturday, September 28, 2013 at New Direction Movement Cathedral with Pastor Essie McCullough officiating and Elder Wardlow Frazier eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 2:30pm until 3:30pm on Saturday at the Church.
