Obituary

Mother Ethel P. Brown of 466 Bedford Park Drive peacefully left with the angel of silence, away to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow, and pain on Sunday, May 9, 2010. Mother Brown was a native of Bishopville, SC; born October 8, 1917 to the late Annie Bell Peterson and Sim Peterson. She was one of six children born to twin sister Edna P. Jones. Mother Brown was married for sixty-nine years to the late Deacon Ransom Brown, Sr. and to that union was born two children. Mother Brown was a dedicated member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. She was active in the deaconess ministry, pastor's aid ministry and the Sunday school. Mother Brown also retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.
Mother Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister; four brothers, Otis, William, Bubba, and Lester; and a granddaughter, Daphne Hines.
Left with beautiful memories is a daughter, Betty Hines (Oscar); a son, Ransom Brown, Jr. (Nancy) all of Winston-Salem, NC; five grandchildren, Oscar Hines, Jr. (Willette) of Goldsboro, NC, Sean Hines, Vickie Cummings, Deborah Brown, and Ransom Brown, III all of Winston-Salem, NC; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30am Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop John C. Parks officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot of Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 11:30am on Saturday at the Church.
