Mrs. Essie Wadell Martin Linville, age 88, departed from this earthly life on Sunday, September 4, 2022. "Wadell", as she was affectionately known, was born in Lawsonville, NC on February 28, 1934 to the late Mr. William Gentry Martin and Mrs. Flora Pearl Hylton Martin.
"Wadell" was educated in the Forsyth County School System. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee for Amp, Inc. and retired after 35 years of employment.
"Wadell" was reared in a loving and supportive Primitive Baptist home. She was baptized by late Rev. E. L. Clark of Bethlehem Baptist Church and at the time of her transition, she was a faithful and dedicated member of Cornerstone Life Center pastored by Pastor Clifton Sawyer and Co-Pastor Antoinette Sawyer.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Clement and her second husband, Ernest Linville; her parents; sisters, Irene Green, Lola Bell Lowe, Ola Mae Foote, Wilma Summers, and Vernice Chambers; and brothers, Aubrey, Burnis, Frank, Orell, Ralph Henry, and Elder Richard Martin; and her son, Richard Clement.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Ann Martin; brother-in-law, Bobby Linville; son, Michael (Melanie) Clement; daughters, Sharon (Richard) Hairston, Patricia Clement, and Sirvinnie Glenn all of Winston-Salem, NC and stepdaughter, Lisa Hodges of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of loving family members.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
A Homegoing and Celebration of Life service will be held at 12noon Monday, September 12, 2022 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 1711 Claremont Ave. NE, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Monday at the Church.
