Ernest Thompson, 63, was born in Lancaster, SC and came to Winston-Salem at an early age. He attended the local public schools, and was a member of the "Atkins Class that Never Was", class of 1972. Ernest was previously employed with R.J. Reynolds and later retired from Dean Foods, Inc. (Sealtest) after 20+ years of service. Ernest accepted Christ at an early age and until his death he continued to "Service God" He was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church serving continuously, but his most important job and what he took so seriously was being the Chairman of the Antioch Baptist Deacon Board.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Andrea; his daughter, Ernestine "Teena"; brother, Sam (Mary) Thompson; two sisters; Patricia (Raynard) Moore and Dorothy Hairston all of the city; aunts, Sarah Kirkland of Heath Springs, SC, Mae Bryant of East Orange, NJ, Josephine Matthews and Ernestine Dye of Passaic, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
