Mr. Ernest Cameron, Jr. was born on September 15, 1934 in Florence County, SC to the late Ernest and Jeanette Baker-Cameron.  He departed and entered into eternal life on January 7, 2025 peacefully at home. Ernest retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.

He was a member of Hanes Memorial CME Church where he joined the Men's Choir.  Ernest loved his family.  His joy was spending as much time as possible with his family both in NC and SC.  Though he lived in Winston-Salem; SC was always "home".

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Cameron; two sons, Tony and Ernest Cameron, III; sister, Mary Dottery; three brothers, Watson Cameron, Johnny Cameron, and Harry (Dorothy) Cameron; and his sister-in-law, Juanita Cameron.

Ernest leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Timothy Wayne Cameron of the home; daughters, Melissa Colette Cameron of Winston-Salem, NC and Lola Denise (Antoine) Smith of Warrenton, VA; grandchildren, Corey (April) Cameron, Evangelist Sheena Rapley, Justin Cameron, Joy Cameron, Jermaine Cameron, Melody Cameron, Dawayne Richardson, Dontre Barrett, Shekinah Greene, Javarius Cameron, and Serenity Smith; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Sampson Cameron of Richmond, VA, Amos (Barbara) Cameron of Lake City, SC, and Sank Cameron of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hanes Memorial CME Church with Pastor James Tillman presiding.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:30pm on Thursday at the Church.  Interment will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 in the Cameron Family Cemetery, Lake City, SC.
