Mrs. Emma Mary Ella Welch Simmons was born November 1, 1925 to the late Ernest and Elsie Ann B. Welch. She went quietly to be with God on Sunday, December 10, 2012.

She was a devoted housewife, caring and loving mother and grandmother, and she was faithful to God and to her church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, George William Simmons; brothers, Clarence, Joseph, Ernest, Jr., and Javan Welch; and sisters, Ida Welch Gravely and Nannie R. Welch.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, George Irvin Simmons (Linda) and Charles Angelo Simmons; one daughter, Irma Simmons Ellis; two grandchildren, LaShanda Ellis and Kenneth Ellis all of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Ralph Welch (Harvey Ruth) of Detroit, MI; sisters, Clora Welch Williams (Henry) of Bassett, VA and Nealie Welch Sharp (Wilbert) of W-S, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Carver Road Christian Church, 3200 Carver School Road W-S, NC with Pastor Tyrone E. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Baileytown Christian Church Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
