Ms. Emma Lee McKissick was a life long member of Winston-Salem, NC. She was a product of the public schools and a graduate of Atkins Senior High School.
Ms. McKissick was a domestic engineer for 60% of her work life and finished by working for Unique Furniture Company.
Ms. McKissick was a former member of Mount Sinai Glorious Church Of God, with the late Bishop A. D. Wilson, Pastor. She was a "Watch Care member" of the Agapli Worldwide Prayer of Deliverance Ministries, headed by her very close friend, mentor and pastor, Ruth A. Horne, who is also a close friend of the family.
Ms. McKissick is survived by her son, Frank McKissick of the home. She was loved by other family members and many friends.
As a trained pianist, Ms. McKissick will be remembered for playing and accompanying the "Sensational South Landers," an all female gospel group that appeared live on Radio Station WAAA each Sunday morning at 7:00 P.M. during the 1960-1970 years.
Ms. McKissick was a strong woman of "Great Faith," quiet wisdom, and believed in giving and sharing with all she came in contact with.
Memorial services will be held at 12noon Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Monday at the funeral home.
