Obituary

Mrs. Emma Watson Blue, 100, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at her residence.
She was born in Maxton, NC on March 15, 1911 to Neal Leonard and Mary Alice Watson. She moved to Winston-Salem at the age of 18.

She was married to the late Lonnie Christopher Blue, Sr. for 66 years.
She was an avid baseball fan, calling the plays along with the umpires during the play-offs and World Series games.
She was a source of wisdom and guidance for many who sought her advice and direction. At the age of 100, she was surrounded by her family and an extended family of special friends and 'adopted' children and grandchildren.

She was a member and Mother of the Grace United Community Church which she attended as long as she was able. She was a strong and faithful Christian who credited her long and happy life to God.
As described by the many who loved her, "she was as close to an angel as you can get".

She lived well, laughed often and loved much; she gained the respect of the intelligent and the love of little children; she filled her niche and accomplished her task; she left the world better than she found it; she never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; she looked for the best in others and gave the best she had; her life has been an inspiration; her memory is a benediction.

Those who remain with the joy of having shared her life are her five daughters, Doreatha Reese (George), Maxine Robinson, Juanita Ramsey, and Wyvetra Yeldell (Don) of MD, and Emma Davis (Isaac) of NC; four sons, Lonnie Blue, Jr. (Roberta), Danny Blue (Karen), Barnell Blue (Valeria) of NC and William Blue (LaVada) of MD. One of 12 siblings, she is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Love of Washington, D.C. and Alice Daniels of Atlantic City, NJ; 25 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Church.

The family extends special thanks to the Hospice & Palliative CareCenter. Also, special thanks to Monica Smith, Rachel Calise, and Michelle Bitting for their love and care of "Granny"; and to the Piney Grove Baptist Church family.
