Emanuel Grace Pelzer, affectionately known to family and friends as "Skeeter", of 150 Willow Oak Drive Apartment 104 was born March 18, 1941 to Collie Pelzer and Mozella S. Pelzer McLean.
He departed his life on January 12, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his wife and family.
He was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC, attended Carver High School, and was a member of United House of Prayer for All People.
Emanuel was a retiree of RJR Archer Plant 200, head chef for K&W Cafeteria for 12 years, and received a degree in computers in 2004 from the School of Neighborhood Networking through the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem.
He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Joseph and Flora Stone; a sister, Doris P. Townsend; and his nephew, Cedric H. Cheeks.
He leaves to cherish his memories his lovely wife, Margaret S. Pelzer; two daughters, LaFaitre (Faye) Pelzer and Trina Pelzer; three sons, Kedrin Smith, Emanuel (Natasha) Jeffreys, and Collie S. Pelzer; twelve grandchildren; his mother, Mozella S. Pelzer McLean; one sister, Shirley P. Cheeks; two brothers, Donald Ray Pelzer and Curtis Leon (Mary) Pelzer; one brother-in-law, Robert Smith; two sisters-in-law, Sally Martin and Linda (Walter) McMehan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; devoted friends, Peggy Spencer and Glenn (Mary) Heilig of Salisbury, NC; and a host of United House of Prayer family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, January 15, 2010 at the United House of Prayer, 2501 Ivy Ave. W-S, NC 27105. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the House of Prayer in care of Margaret Pelzer.
