Obituary

Mr. Elliott Brown Jr., 86, transitioned on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Forsyth Hospital. He was affectionately known to many as "June", Daddy, Uncle Elliott, and Papa to name a few. He was deeply loved, greatly admired, and tremendously respected. He was an excellent role model.

Elliott was born, raised, and lived all of his life in Winston-Salem, NC. He was the 8th child of the late Elliott Brown and Jessie Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlie Mae Brown. He was a loving, devoted husband and father.

Elliott leaves the following to cherish precious memories, his wife, Charlie Mae Brown; his 3 daughters, Gale (Michael) Fletcher of Baltimore, MD, Sonya (William) Mitchell of Charlotte, NC, and Erica (Donald) Foster of Knoxville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Candice (TJ) Jordan, Michael (Angie) Fletcher, Elliott Jay Foster, Alexis Mitchell, and Adrianne Mitchell; 4 great-grandchildren, Natalie Jordan, Audrey Jordan, Josephina Fletcher, and Torie Jordan; 2 sisters, Delores Brown and Dorothy Ann Herron of Los Angeles, California and a host of nieces and nephews too numerous to name. And special thank you to niece, Lynn Woods; and play daughter, Alicia Faye Holman.

Elliott graduated from Atkins High School in Winston-Salem. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from North Carolina A&T State University. He served in the United States Army for 4 years. He enjoyed his career at Prudential for 41 years. He was the first black insurance salesman for Prudential. He went on to earn his certification as a Certified Life Underwriter. He was a faithful member of First Waughtown Baptist Church for 60 years where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon Board, Financial Secretary, and worked tirelessly for the Church.

Elliott enjoyed traveling visiting the Atlantic, Indian, Pacific Oceans, his beach home, watching sports, playing golf, watching 60 Minutes, spending time with family and friends, good food, and was a proud Aggie.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, October 9, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
