Elizabeth "Aunt Lizzie" Carpenter Crump as born February 8, 1927 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Will and Annie Carpenter. Early Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010 (Saint Patrick's Day) Elizabeth Carpenter Crump slipped peacefully into eternal rest at Forsyth Medical Center.
Aunt Lizzie attended Forsyth County Schools through high school. She moved to Boston, MA and returned to Winston-Salem, NC where she met and married Robert Nathaniel Crump, who preceded her in death on March 8, 1966.
Aunt Lizzie was deeply and endlessly devoted to her family. Her chosen profession reflected her love for children. She enjoyed her work as a housekeeper and nanny in several private homes in Winston-Salem, NC. All of whom became a part of her extended family.
Her personality and deeds reflected the character of a person of strength, serenity, and peace-she never complained.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving niece, Dr. Gloria B. Ramsey and husband, Charles A. Ramsey of High Point, NC; a nephew, Dr. Raphael L. Brown and wife, Elsie N. Brown of St. Louis, MO; other relatives, Melanie L. Ramsey, Col. Robin A. Ramsey, 1st Lt. Charles A. Ramsey, II., Naomi Jean Ramsey, Nichole J. Ramsey and son, Matthew, Ramona Ann Brown of Palmdale, CA; friends and extended family, Darlene Owens and son, Aeric of Winston-Salem, NC and Dr. James and Mary Alice Gibbs and family of Winston-Salem, NC and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
