Mr. Elisha Moses, Jr., affectionately known as "Moe", was visited by the Angel of Death and has taken from our midst a father, brother, and friend.
Born on October 20, 1939 in Bishopville, NC he was the son of the late Mr. Elisha Moses, Sr. and Mamie Marie Johnson.
He was joined in holy matrimony with Evelyn Moses.
Mr. Elisha Moses, Jr. attended public school in New York City. He also attended Forsyth Technical College in Winston-Salem, NC receiving his certification in Horticulture. Moe's passion and love for Horticulture led him to become active in the community and share a wealth of knowledge that will forever be treasured.
Mr. Elisha Moses, Jr. served the Armed Forces for four years. At the completion of his service he would later reside in Winston-Salem, NC.
After moving to Winston-Salem he became an active member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church on February 9, 1997.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Moses of MD and his sister-in-law.
Mr. Elisha Moses, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Cheryl Moses of DC, Sheila Moses of NY, and Deatra Moses of NY; sons, Yero Craig of CO and Ryan Chalmers of the city; grandchildren, Terell Moses, Jamel Moses, and Darren Campbell all of NY; great-grandchildren, Terell Moses, Jr. , Amare Moses, and Nazir Moses all of NY; sisters, Mamie Dean Moses of DC, Ann Starnes, Flora "Flo" Moses and Marion "Beverly" Hill; uncles, Edward (Shirley) Addison and Andrew (Eliene) Moses; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10am until 11am on Monday at the funeral home.
