Family focused, faith filled, strong and determined are all words that describe Eleanor Elaine Frazier Brown-a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Elaine was born on December 28, 1941 in Winston Salem, the fifth of six children born to the union of Erma Samuels Frazier and Edward Toby Frazier. She inherited a rich legacy of faith, family, leadership and devotion from her parents.
Elaine attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and graduated from Atkins High School. She was a proud Winston-Salem State University Ram. Upon graduating she began her teaching career and served in that capacity for several years. She devoted her life to public service working with the Winston-Salem Police Department and then upon retiring she reconnected with her first love of teaching at Hill Middle School.
In June of 1965 Elaine married Harry Brown, Sr. and to that union three sons were born; Anthony Brown, Harry Brown Jr. (Tammy), and Ronald Brown.
It was Elaine's greatest joy to serve as the Youth Minister at New Bethel Baptist Church- a legacy she carried on in her mother's honor. Elaine was also dedicated to education which led her to serve on the Scholarship Committee.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Erma; her sister Lillian Wayne Frazier; her older brothers, Marion Boo and Edward Frazier; and her son, Anthony Brown. She leaves a legacy of love to her sons, Harry and Ronald; daughter-in-law, Tammy; her grandchildren, Harry Brown III (Haley), Jasmine Brown, Taylor Jamerson, Penny Brown, and Hope Vandergriff; great-granddaughter, Nola Rae Brown; her loving sister, Willa Frazier Lash; her loving brother, Tobbie Frazier; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews whose greatest honor was to be loved by Aunt Elaine. She will be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law who always called her sister.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, November 23, 2018 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Kendall D. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Church.
