Mr. Edward L. Duren, Sr. of 3740 Spaulding Drive, Winston-Salem, NC transitioned from labor to reward on March 15, 2011. He was a faithful member of Hanes Memorial CME church for 68 years. He is the widower of Reverend Emma T. Duren. He was a retired employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.
He leaves to cherish fond memories one son, Edward L. Duren, Jr. of the home; one daughter-in-law, Bishop Delores Neal Duren of High Point, NC; four grandchildren, Michael Edward, Ayanna Hagness-Duren (Nicholas), and Christopher Bernard all of Saint Paul, MN, and Emelia D. (Octavius) Parker of Spencer, NC; five great-grandchildren, De'Leon Rena', Ariyan Lysette, Rodney Danta', Netika Anastasia, and Bryana Nachelle; a very special niece, Mrs. Marie Porter of Macon, GA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Theresa Duren of Winston-Salem, NC; a God-grandson, Everett Daviage of the DC area; a special friend, Calvin Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 12noon Monday, March 21, 2011 at Hanes Memorial CME Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 11am until 12noon on Monday at the Church.
