Edward "Chubby" Bernard Debnam departed life Saturday Nov 26th 2011 at Springwood Nursing Care after an extended illness. He was born June 7th 1943 to Lucy Irene Debnam and Daniel McClurkin in Winston-Salem.
He was a graduate of Anderson High School's class of '62. His employment would include Chrysler Corporation in Detroit and Pilot Freight in Kernersville. He was a co-founder of D&D Concessions and a retired employee of Salem College.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather for which he would be affectionately known as "Poppo."
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Dowell; stepfather, Thomas Jones; sisters, Connie Sturdivant and Ida Seaborn; and granddaughter, Destiny Debnam.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Jeffries Debnam; two sons, Derick (Sharon) Debnam and Staphon (Sherri) Debnam; a brother, William (Mary) Debnam; four grandchildren, Derick Jr., Jamari, Justin, and Nadiya; Godson, Darron Daniels; Goddaughter, Jamesca Holman; brothers-in-law, Curley Jeffries and Harvey (Gloria) Jeffries; sister-in-law, Wanda Jeffries; and several nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Friday December 2, 2011 at Union Baptist Church with the Rev Doctor Sir Walter Mack Jr. officiating. The Family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm on Friday at the Church.
