Edith Alberta Thomas Cox departed this life on March 8, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Edith was born on December 29, 1934 and she was faithfully married to Hector Cox, Jr. for 45 years. Edith graduated from Carver High School and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company where she was a dedicated employee.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel E. Thomas and Nettie Meyers; her brothers, Harry, Buford, David, Raymond, William, James, and Robert Thomas; her sisters, Annie Thomas Smith and Susie Thomas Miller. She was also preceded by her sons, Paul H. and Gilbert C. Thomas.
Edith is remembered by her devoted husband, Hector Cox, Jr.; and her sons, Hector Cox III, Joseph B. Cox, Johnny Coleman, and Larry Edwards; her grandchildren, Cedric Thomas, Jeremy Hall, Tiffany Baker, Tawanda Finney, Latoya Mathews, and Travis Cox; her sisters, Carrie Thomas Shore, Louise Thomas Spease, Nellie Thomas Foster; and her five loving sisters-in-law, Mae Braddy, Katie Abrams, Barbara Roberts, Ann Randolph, and Jessie Gadson.
Edith's memory will also be cherished by her many friends, former co-workers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Homegoing services will be held at 12noon Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Benbow AME Zion Church Cemetery, East Bend, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
